Restaurant Review
“We put the RR in GWRRA”

Grand Pa’s Steak House
Merritt Island, Fl.
It was another great night to eat. Unfortunately, the weather didn’t look
promising. No matter, our Chapter wouldn’t pass up any opportunity to eat so out
came the four wheeled enclosed motorcycles. John Osborne did show up on his bike
with a date. (His date was a real DOG! He must be real fond of his date since he
kept referring to it as “Sweet Pea”). Anyhow, we left from Krystal’s for a ride
to the coast.
Grand Pa’s Steak House needs to work on the ambiance. It is located off SR 520
and sits back from the highway. No Fancy bill boards, no glittering neon lights,
no expensive paving and marked off parking lot. The restaurant is made from two
old rail road cars sitting side by side. The lawn needs cutting, there is no
fancy landscaping, and the parking lot is gravel. You just kinda park where ever
the spirit moves you. You are cordially met in the parking lot by the official
restaurant cat who looks extremely well fed! Once you get inside, you know you
are in for a great evening of chowing down!
With the physical appearance I have described, you know the food and service
have to be great! This place had a great menu with good entrees and sandwiches
for the lighter appetite. (Not many in our crowd know what a lighter appetite
is!) To help to maintain my svelte figure, I just ordered a French dip sandwich
with a baked potato for a chaser! Both were great. Some of our party had the
shrimp dinner and everybody went for the salad bar. Lots of goodies on the salad
bar, you could make a whole meal out of just the salad bar! We had two servers
for our table that did a great job keeping the food coming and the drinks full!
After sampling the chow at this restaurant, it was obvious why the parking lot
cat was so fat!
This restaurant puts all of their effort in making good food and serving it with
great service. It has been there for a long time and you could tell that all of
the locals patronized the place. When the locals patronize a restaurant, you
know you have found great food! Let’s face it, I could care less about ambiance,
I want good eats! Once again, we did a great service to the Restaurant Review
goals of the GWRRA.
See you at next month’s pig-out!
